Many of M.'s patrons go to the cafe the way other patrons go to their favorite bar--to talk about their day, their personal problems, and neighborhood news in comfortable company. M. is such a pleasant, sociable, and accommodating person, and he is always smiling--(all of those are qualities I do not have)--and so he is always receptive to such patrons. If he were a playwright he'd probably have outnumbered all my plays by now, what with all the stories he's been told.
